Is there a newer driver I should be using? Is there a command I need to run? Any help given will be greatfully received. I can't continue restoring applications and my backups on my machine until I've got this TPM working. However, when I go to the tpm.msc, it says that the TPM was not found. In Windows Device Manager, the TPM is identified and there is a working 2006 Microsoft Driver running.
I have used the HP Support app to install the latest Intel chipset drivers for my machine. The TPM is enabled in the BIOS/EFI and is active. I now have a working copy of Windows 10 Home on the machine, except that Windows Hello pin and the fingerprint reader don't work, and I can't get MS Office to remember my network and email / Exchange server passwords.Īfter some digging about in multiple forums, I've tracked the problem back to the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
The supplied HP Recovery partition restore failed twice, so I installed Windows 10 from an ISO downloaded from the Microsoft website (thank-you for the Media Creation Tool!). I've recently had to drive wipe and rebuild my HP ENVY Notebook's OS after a boot failure (it's a long story involving a corrupted LiveCD/USB copy of Linux).

The firmware TPM, although present, is usually disabled, and needs to be enabled in the UEFI setup program. Older platforms will require an add-on TPM, which scalpers are selling for upward or $100 these days (normally under $20). Intel and AMD began integrating a firmware TPM with these platforms that met TPM 2.0 specification. Server- and workstation chipsets from processor generations corresponding to these platforms, will also support Windows 11. MSI, on the other hand, extends support all the way back to Intel 100-series (when paired with "Kaby Lake" or forward) and AMD 300-series ("Zen" and forward).įor HEDT platforms, both companies support TPM 2.0 on Intel X299, AMD X399, and AMD TRX40. ASUS says that its motherboards dating back to the Intel 300-series, and AMD 300-series, and processors compatible with them, meet the requirement, which would mean Intel "Coffee Lake" and forward and AMD "Zen" and forward. ASUS and MSI have each put out lists of their motherboards and compatible processors that meet the Windows 11 requirement of a TPM 2.0 spec-compliant trusted platform module, without needing an add-on TPM.
